After months of anticipation, Zionsville’s 5-star kicker AJ Vinatieri has decided on where he will be spending his impending future. AJ is the son of former NFL kicker for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, Adam Vinatieri. It looks as if he will branch out from the footsteps of his 4x Super Bowl-winning father with his college commitment to UMass.
Friday night, AJ narrowed down his college decision to just 4 schools: IU, LSU, South Dakota St., and UMass. Monday night on Instagram live he announced his decision to attend UMass. Vinatieri announced earlier this month that he received an offer from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His twitter mentioned, “After a great conversation with Keith Dudzinski and Don Brown, I’m extremely blessed and honored to receive an offer from the University of Massachusetts!”
His commitment speech mentioned the people that have supported him through his high school years including his father, mother, sister, brother, his high school teammates at Zionsville, Coach Brown, and all the UMass coaching staff. He concluded with “God has a plan for me, and this is the beginning of a new chapter! 100% committed.” The Vinatieri name will be heading back to New England!
